Are Google Ads Always Profitable?

Google Ads are without a doubt the most widely known form of advertising know to many businesses, and with reason. Google makes the vast majority of their annual income by means of ads.
Does the fact that Google Ads are well known mean that they are the correct place for your business to invest its advertising budget? Honestly the answer could very well be no.
Why do I say that?
Even though we offer Google Ads, and on many occasions Google IS the best choice for online advertising, there are times when other forms of paid ads work much better. For example in some of the following situations we would recommend a different form of advertising:
- Looking to drive brand awareness – Recommendation Facebook Ads
- Get more views on a specific blog post or article – Recommendation Twitter/Facebook
- Get more views on a video – Recommendation YouTube Ads
Nowadays, “Googling It” is well known, and has become part of our day to day vernacular. Google Ads reaches billions of people each and every day via search, email, and other online activities.
The important thing to consider here is not IF you should advertise, but rather where your advertising dollars should go. Simply put, both Google and Facebook ads are more than capable of helping to grow your business. But only if you know how to use them properly.
What Differences Are There Between Google Ads and Facebook Ads?
Google Ads is an amazing place to advertise if your business is looking to tap into an enormous amount of search traffic.
Facebook Ads are more targeted to brand awareness and a normally have a lower intent to purchase than Google Ads.
What Are Some Forms of Google Ads?
Below are some of the most common ways to get noticed with Google Ads.
Search Network
The search network shows ads for searches based on keywords like “plumbing service.” Search network ads show up at the top and sometimes bottom of Google’s search results. There are also now expanded search ads, and dynamic search ads which use a variety of titles and descriptions.
Display Network
The Display Network is designed to help your business find the right audience. Its highly-focused targeting options let you show your message to your ideal customer both at the right place and the right time.
Shopping Campaigns
If you’re a retailer, or are in e-commerce, you can use Shopping campaigns to promote your inventory, boost traffic to your site or your brick and mortar store, and find better qualified leads. In contrast to a text ad, which displays text only, Shopping ads show users a photo, a title, the price, your store name, and much more. These ads give users a strong sense of the product you’re selling before they click the ad, which gives you more qualified leads.
What Are Some Forms of Facebook Ads?
Facebook also has multiple forms of ad types, some of the most common are:
Image/Video Ads
These ads are exactly what it suggests, a combination of images and/or videos that are shown to Facebook users inside their News Feed. You can also choose to place your ads on Instagram (also owned by Facebook) or in a messenger chat.
Carousel Ads
These ads are very similar to Image/Video Ads. The major difference is that they can showcase up to 10 images or videos or a mixture or the two in a single ad. With each image or video having its own link. These ads work very well for products.
Instant Experience
Instant Experience is a fullscreen experience that opens after someone taps your ad on while using a mobile device. While this is not technically a separate form of advertising it is a very useful extension that can be fine-tuned to drive massive ROI. You can create an Instant Experience to visually highlight your brand, its products or its services.
